Silicon Blue Technologies was a pioneering fabless semiconductor company, specializing in ultra-low-power Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs). Founded in the mid-2000s and based in Santa Clara, California, the company targeted the high-volume mobile consumer electronics market. Its flagship product family, the iCE FPGAs, was renowned for its industry-leading power efficiency and small form factor, making it ideal for power-sensitive portable devices like smartphones and tablets. A key innovation was its non-volatile, single-chip architecture which simplified design integration. The company's focus on cost-effective, low-density FPGAs filled a crucial niche. In 2011, Silicon Blue was acquired by Lattice Semiconductor, which integrated its technology and talent to significantly strengthen its own low-power FPGA portfolio, continuing the legacy of the iCE product line.
